How does it flat pack and assemble without tools?
Create a lamp using corrugated cardboard.
Unassembled, the lamp can be flat packed into a box half its size.
The geometry of the Tataki Lamp allows for parts to be slotted and interlocked within each other. Allowing the user to assemble the lamp without any tools.
As preparation to be submitted for an exhibition, I made a new Tataki Lamp out of a more presentable material. However, this new lamp is missing the bottommost horizontal rung, which results in the loss of its accelerated aesthetic it had before.
For a project on sustainability - we were asked to imagine a past project of ours under a sustainable lens. I chose the Tataki Lamp and rendered it in plastic that resembled that of Precious Plastics. They are a resource on campus that makes items from recycled plastics, as well as sells the equipment to manufacture plastics yourself.
